Location

The Travis Heights neighborhood is located in South Austin, bounded by Lake Austin on its north side, I-35 on the east, Congress on the west, and Oltorf street on its south side. The neighborhood is across from Lady Bird Lake, with easy access to I-35. It’s not only close to downtown but it’s also one of the easiest downtown locations to get to and from the airport. The neighborhood is full of winding, tree-shaded roads, and surrounded by stunning homes, trails, and a spring-fed pool. Travis Heights brings an eclectic Austin lifestyle and brilliantly blends with its vibrant history. 
 

History

Travis Heights was founded in 1912 by General William Harwood Stacy and started rapidly developing in the early 1920s. In 1913, Travis Heights was the most populated neighborhood at the time. The neighborhood was designed to have all different sized lots and a system for both its straight and curvy streets. To show the vacant lots, the founder, Stacy, gave away Ford Touring Cars as a part of his campaign to get prospective buyers to the land. 
 

Architecture

The neighborhood was originally conceived as an area for only the wealthy. Now, the neighborhood is a mix of mansions, charming historic homes, and renovated apartments, making this one of the most desirable and sought-after neighborhoods in Austin to live in. The neighborhood is now seen as encompassing Austin’s artistic side and the diversity of Austin, the homes here showcase what Austin has to offer. 
 

Recreation

Travis Heights is within walking distance of many of the most popular music venues and restaurants in Austin. The neighborhood features amazing trails, hosts many of Austin’s famous music and art events, is home to Big Stacy/Little Stacy Park, and is right on the edge of SoCo to enjoy Austin’s famous food, restaurant, and bar scene. Not only does the neighborhood boast walking distance amenities, it is easily accessible to I-35 making it a great location to reach entertainment as well as ease of traveling.
